Abstract
Nursing workload and cost of nursing care are considered of great value
in the administration of all aspects of nurses’ activities. They are two of the
principle components of management. Providing effective nursing care is a
major goal of any health service organization. There are many efforts from
administrative personnel to establish this goal. One of the most effort is
concerned with manpower planning especially nursing personnel because the
nursing costs are most often concern the largest expense component in
hospital budget, attention must be given to nursing costs.
The present study aimed to determine the nursing workload and the cost
of nursing care at Mansoura Emergency Hospital.
The subjects of this study were all nurses working in surgical and
orthopedic units at the time of the study their number were 46 nurses and all
patients who were hospitalized during period of the study in surgical and
orthopedic units their number were 143 patients.
