Abstract Aim of the work Evaluation of laparoscopic role in abdominal trauma and its advantages and therapeutic value versus unnecessary laparotomies. And will compare between them in mean operative time, hospital stay,ICU stay and post operative complications and mortality. CONCLUSION • Laparoscopy is a useful diagnostic and operative tool in cases of penetrating and blunt abdominal injuries. • Laparoscopy is highly sensitive in demonstration of abdominal injuries. • Laparoscopy should be considered the procedure of choice for the diagnosis and treatment of penetrating and blunt injuries of the abdomen in hemodynamically stable patients. • Laparoscopy reduced operative time, morbidity and mortality rates of unnecessary negative and non therapeutic laparotomy procedures in patients with abdominal trauma. • The future developments in minimally invasive surgery will allow a wider usage of laparoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of abdominal injuries. |
