Abstract

The present investigation was carried out on Ninety five specimens of female genitalia of adult freshly slaughtered and apparently healthy buffaloes. The ages of the animals, ranged from 5 to 15 years. Ten specimens were dissected to perform the gross anatomy of the uterine tube, fifty specimens were used to describe the macro-morphometry, fifteen specimens were used for studying the histological structures and micromorphometry, ten specimens were used for stereomicroscopic examination, and ten specimens were used for scanning electron microscopic examination and for semithin sections. The Gross anatomical study revealed that, the uterine tube of buffalo was narrow and extensive flexuous tube suspended in the mesosalpinx which was very thin, translucent, vascular and large enough to envelope the ovary. The ovarian bursa surrounded the ovary partially. The ligaments of the uterine tube grossly included the mesosalpinx and infundibulocomualligament. The uterine tube grossly divided into four functional segments: infundibulum with fimbriae; ampulla; isthmus and intramural part. The infundibulum was an asymmetric funnel-shaped structure divided along the free border of the mesosalpinx into a wide and a narrow side. The ampulla was consisted of one wide straight part followed by other narrow flexuous part. The isthmic end of the uterine tube pierced and passed through the wall of the tip of the uterine horn (abruptly) forming the intramural part of the uterine tube. Firstly, it had a straight course and then became curved till reach to the uterine opening which present on the summit of the uterine papilla
