Abstract

The objective of this work was to study the frequency and br consequences of psychological dis-#111;-#114;-#100;-#101;-#114;s in children with chronic renal br disease on regular hemodialysis. For this purpose,40 pediatric patients br with chronic kidney disease on regular hemodialysis (3 times weekly) br were studied. br Results of our study revealed that according to Child br behaviour checklist (CBCL) Score: there is increased total br score,internalizing,externalizing,and other seven subscales as follow; br All the children,(N=40)(100%) are anxious depressed,35 patients br (87.5%) are withdrawal depressed, 37 patients (92.5%) have somatic br problems,34 patients(85%) have social problems, 30 patients (75%) have br thought problems,31 patients( 77.5%) have attention problems, 22 br patients (55%) are rule breaking, 22 patients (55%) have aggressive br behaviour, 36 patients (90%) have increased total score, all the patients br (100%) have internalizing problems, 31patients (77.5%) have br externalizing problems . br Also our results according to conners scale: br 35 patients(87.5%) are Anxious shy,26 patients(65%) have br opposition problems,31 patients(77.5%) have inattention problems,13 br patients (32.5%) are hyperactive,8 patients (20%)have perfection,34 br patients(85%) have social problems,and 8 patients(20%) are conner br ADHD. br Summary br 99 br Also our results according to Modified Mini –Mental State br Examination : br 39 patients (97.5%) are of normal cognitive function, and only one br patient (2.5%) had mild cognitive impairments. Our study showed that br negative correrlation between age and Modified Mini –Mental State br Examination (MMSE). br There is a high prevalence of cognitive impairment among HD br patients that has adverse implications for hospitalization and reduced life br expectancy. Therefore, cognitive impairment in HD patients should be br monitored carefully and treated in an appropriate manner.
