Abstract

In the present study an attempt has been made to investiga te the metabolic disturbances of some trace elements (calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron) and the changes in immunoglobulins, C-reactive protein and alphaa1- antitrypsin during the pulmonary tuberculosis.
The materials of this study consisted of 28 pa tients with pulmonary tuberculosis with age ranged from 16 to 55 years. They were fully diagnosed cli nically, bacterriologically and radiologically.
Eighteen cases of normal healthy subjects of the same age group were chosen as control, based on clinical, bacteriological and radiological examination.
Blood samples were taken and in their sera the followwing biochemical parameters were performed,
(1) Serum immunoglobul ins level (Ig A, IgG, IgM, IgE and
IgO) .
(2) Serum C-reactive protein level. (3) Serun~,.3.lpha -1 - anti trypsi n leve 1. (4) Serum calci urn level.
(5) Serum magnesium level.
(6) Serum zinc level.
(7) Serum iron level.
The data obtained were statistically analysed accordding to the student T-test.
IgA, IgG, IgM and IgE levels in the T.B. group compared to normal controls, concerning with IgO were insignificant.
