Abstract In our course of a continuous program for investigation of some medicinal and/or economic local plants, the entitled one calligonum comosum was studied for structure elucidation and characterization of its components. Literature survey revealed that the plant has some biological activities and other some applications. In this study, the whole plant parts of C. comosum grown in Egypt were processed according to Scheme (1) and the following compounds were identified, characterized and classified as the following groups: 1- Acetogenins (Fats derivatives): Oxygenated aliphatic compounds (alcohols, acids, esters) and Oxygenated olefinic compounds (esters). 2- Terpenoids : Monoterpenes, Sesquiterpenes, Diterpenes and triterpenes. 3- Steroids. 4- Shikimates, aromatics. 5- Flavonoids. 6- Other constituents. |
