Abstract The main objective of this study IS to conclude the sedimentological evolution of the Miocene sediments in the study area to the north of Cairo-Suez Road, depending on the successive events which reflect the fluctuation of the Miocene Sea. The objective was achieved by using the principles of the sequence stratigraphy. To achieve their objectives four representative lithologic sections were studied in details: Section-l : Gebel Hamza-Um Qamar lithologic section (Lat. 30° \ o \ 14.08 N, Long. 31 38.978 E). Its sample symbol Hzl, Hz2, Hz3, etc. Section-2: Gebel Homira lithologic section (Lat. 30° 9.30N, Long. 32° 4.30\E). Its sample symbol HmI, Hm2, Hm3, etc. Section-3: Gebel Shabraweet lithologic section. (Lat. 30° 18N, Long. 32° 17’E). Its sample symbol Sh I, Sh2, Sh3, etc. Section-4: El Rubiki lithologic section. (LaUO° 9.445N, Long. 310 45.898\E). Its sample symbol RI, R2, R3, etc. Detailed field study and laboratory analyses were applied where the following conclusions are achieved:- |
