Abstract This study was done to find out the diagnostic value of osteopontin among patients with acute coronary syndrome . 40 patients with acute coronary syndrome , 20 patients with chronic stable angina were included in this study and 20 Normal persons as control group they were subjected to complete medical history, full clinical examination; ECG; laboratory investigations include (CPK , CKMB , troponin-I, osteopontin) and routine laboratory investigation . 60 patients were included in this study in two groups and 20 normal persons were included as control group, 40 patients were included as group A with Acute coronary syndrome, 28 (70%) were male and 12 (30%) were female . 20 patients were included as group B 13 (65%) were male and 7(35%) were female . In group A 19 patients (47.5% ) were smokers, 26patients (65%) were diabetic, 22 (55%) were Hypertensive . 23(57.5%) were dyslipidemic and 34(85%) were presented by typical chest pain In group B 5 patients (25%) were Smokers, 9 patients(45%) were diabetic 10 patients (50%) were Hypertensive, 7 patients (35%) were dyslipidemic and 12 patients (60%) were presented by typical chest pain . -76- Our study showed that the range of serum level of osteopontin in group A is 0.9 - 22.9 and that the range of serum level of osteopontin in group B is 0.23 – 4.7 These findings showed that serum level of osteopontin group A is significaly higher than group B and the normal control group P value is significance = 0.001 the diagnostic accuracy of ostopontin = 86.7 % the specificity = 100% the sensitivity = 80 % Our study demonstrated that raised level of osteopontin was common in patients with Acute coronary syndrome and it is useful as a diagnostic test . |
