Abstract Affections in musculoskeletal system are the major cause of poor performance in horses. Regarding to prevalence of different musculoskeletal affection, clinical investigation of examined 85 horses revealed that 60 cases were exhibiting lameness. The achieved results revealed a significant neutrophilia and Monocytosis in chronic arthritis compared with control group. Alteration in the mean value of serum proteins showed significant increases in horses suffered from acute arthritis, tendinitis and myopathy when compared with control group. Activities of LDH, ALP and CK were nearly significant with same manner in mean values of group suffered from acute arthritis and myopathy and less significant level were achieved in chronic arthritis and tendinitis group when compared with control group. On Cytological examination of synovial fluid of acute arthritis in comparison to the control group, revealed highly significant elevation of total cell count. Highly significant increase in total protein, serum synovial glucose difference, ALT, AST and LDH.Total proteins increase with inflammatory and infectious synovitis. Turpentine oil, caused acute aseptic arthritis which closely simulated clinical traumatic arthritis. Changes in leukogram result in the control revealed significant leukocytosis from first day of inoculation till the end of experiment. The obtained leukocytosis was manifested by absolute neutrophilia. Changes in plasma proteins, Albumin, globulin and AlG ratio revealed increase in total proteins, and globulin in serum of inoculated group in comparison to control group. Non significant changes were observed in serum albumin. Changes in the serum enzymes activities showed non significant changes in ALT while AST,ALP and LDH showed interrupted significant changes with marked significant elevation in CK activity in all experimental period. Changes in serum glucose revealed a significant hypoglycemia in inoculated group in comparison to control group. A state of significant mild hyperglycemia was recorded at 10th and 14th days of inoculation. |
