Abstract In this study, 534 intestinal and liver samples were collected from apparently healthy & diseased chickens with diarrhea from different Governorates& during different seasons to be examined for Clostridium perfringens. The incidence in apparently healthy & diseased chickens was 8.39% and 30% respectively. It was found that Giza Governorate showed the highest incidence 53.3%. It was also found that the highest rate of isolation was in summer and spring 45% each. The isolates were typed by serum neutralization test (SNT) in swiss mice into 3 typed (A, D, C) in percentage of 70%, 20% and 10% respectively in apparently healthy chickens and 80.6%,14.5% and 4.8% in diseased chickens. In-vitro sensitivity test made against different types of antibiotics. Two types of vaccines prepared (aluminum hydroxide gel& oil adjuvant) and applied to compare the immune response of the chickens against both. The immune response to alum.gel was found to be faster and of short duration while that of oil was slower but last for long duration. |
