Abstract This work aims to study the effect of educational program on nurses’ performance in ophthalmic laser in the operating room and clinic of Ain Shams University Hospital, Rod El Farag Ophthalmic Hospital and Research Institute of Ophthalmology, El Giza. The study was conducted on all available nurses (41 nurses) pre, post, and follow up 1 and 2 implementation of the program. Ten Experts’ evaluated the program. Data were collected from the operating rooms and clinics of Ain Shams University Hospital, Rod El Farag Ophthalmic Hospital, and Research Institute of Ophthalmology, El Giza. The results of this study illustrated that the educational program has increased the score of knowledge and practice among all studied groups compared to pre-implementation of the program. The study recommended the development of a comprehensive educational laser care and safety program for nurses involved in the laser procedures prior their work with lasers as well as periodic in-service educational courses to refresh and update their knowledge. |
