Abstract

Prevalence of Antiplatelet Antibodies in Chronic Hepatitis C Egyptian Patients with Thrombocytopenia
Zhofoucr::ll’ohmnecr;}&;cr affah
Seventy three (73) volunteers, thirty five (35) female and thirty eight (38) male, were participated in this study to detect antiplatelet antibodies, evaluate hepatic and extrahepatic changes associated with thrombocytopenic and non thrombocytopenic liver affection and to offer parameters helping in assessing the prognosis of liver diseases. Therefore antiplatelet antibodies, blood picture, liver function tests, partial thromboplastin time, Lactic dehydrogenase, oxidant-antioxidant parameters, interleukin-2 and u-TNF were determined in ITP, chronic hepatitis C virus with normal and low platelet count, chronic non viral liver diseases and mixed infection groups . The results revealed absence of antiplatelet antibodies, deterioration of liver function in thrombocytopenic patients than non thrombocytopenic ones and disequilibrium in the oxidant antioxidant status in all diseased groups. These results suggested that although platelets playa critical role in the prognosis of liver disease and their count can be used as a reliable test to expect liver deterioration yet there is most probably no element of autoimmunity in the etiology of hepatic thrombocytopenia
