Abstract

Effect of intensive agriculture and the period of cold storage on the quality of safflower seed (Zanzibar) flower harvest was conducted this research in a commercial farm in particular the village of Mania Mansur province lake - Arab Republic of Egypt, during the seasons 2003/2004, 2004/2005 and was selected for this research product Zanzibar a class of safflower flowers imported from the Netherlands And appropriate to the circumstances of Egypt and safe use of flower picking in the formats dry and tender and is characterized by this product that leg floral finish the largest inflorescences in size, a Nora apical terminal vehicle stops its growth and begins after the composition of lateral branches, which end is the other at the summit Bannoura apical terminal complex is surrounded by a group of Alguenabat Alqlafah free of thorns And colored flowers radial with a mixture of colors, yellow, orange and red Zatzn the 1000 seed about 37.5 grams and can be summarized as the most important results obtained in the first generally resulted in growing plants heavily agricultural low (52 plants / m 2) to get on top of wet weight and the highest dry weight the flowering stems as compared to the seasons and agriculture to high planting densities (72 plants / m 2) and for the two seasons Second, with increased duration of cold storage dry at least wet weight and dry weight, especially after treatment (6 day) difference significantly noticeable compared to the control (0 day), which was wet weight and dry weight of stems of flowering which has the highest value for the two seasons Third, plant density resulted in low agricultural (52 plants / m 2) to obtain the greatest number of inflorescences / stem vase (10.7,9.94 Nora / plant) and that in the first season and second season respectively, compared to agriculture at high planting densities (72 plants / m 2), which were (7.6, 8.55 Nora / plant) and that in the first season and second season respectively. Fourth, low weights, flowering stems with the increase in plant density per square meter may be due to the low level lighting and low level of nutrients and water.
