Abstract In-service inspection of offshore platforms is very important for the protection of offshore crew, environment, business assets and company and industry reputation. This report, in the introduction, reviews historical background and early interest of in-service inspection of offshore platforms. Also, the concept of Structure Integrity Management from the viewpoint of APl & ISO is presented. Chapter two offers the objectives of the in-service inspection process and its importance for the offshore platforms. For planning the inspection, the offshore platform is divided into three zones (atmospheric zone, splash zone and submerged zone) also areas requiring special attention with regard to cathodic protection should be determined. The study also covers in this section the various codes relating to the development of inspection of offshore platform standards. The different methods used to inspect the offshore platforms during the service and how to choose the appropriate method for each inspection process have been explained in chapter three. Chapter four provides some fundamental requirements for accurate inspection/survey of underwater cathodic protection as well as some new approaches to the task which will greatly enhance the survey value at little or no additional cost. Finally the main conclusions and recommendations of the study are presented in chapter five. |
