Abstract

Urinary incontinence is a complex condition that can result from multiple interacting causes, including physiological, behavioral, emotional, social and environmental factors. Successful management is dependent on a thorough evaluation that accurately characterizes the type of incontinence and, if possible, identifies the underlying etiology, stress urinary incontinence was prevalent in women, stress urinary incontinence occurs when the pelvic floor muscles are weakened and cannot support increased bladder pressure. Coughing, sneezing, exercising, and laughing can trigger urine flow.Injury to the muscle tissue and nerves of the pelvic floor during vaginal delivery is the most common cause of stress urinary incontinence. So the nurse is an excellent candidate to identify incontinence patients. Nurses are the health professionals who spend the most time with patients and can develop a trusting relationship with them. Nurses are coordinators of care, communicating with family, other care-givers, and members of the health-care team. For many years, continence status and functional status have been standard components of any nursing assessment. Nursing assessments are routinely performed upon initial contact with the patien.
