Abstract • The treatment of pediatric femoral shaft fractures remains controversial. • Elastic stable intramedullary nailing has been proposed as an alternative for the treatment of pediatric femoral shaft fractures. • This study was done at Menoufiya University Hospital between 2008 and 2011. • 30 children with 30 femoral shaft fractures were included. • ESINs were used in treating all the patients. • Bipolar retrograde technique was used in all cases. • Only one case (3.3%) was a poor result and the remainder was excellent or satisfactory. • We recommend the use of ESINs in treating femoral shaft fracture in children between 5 and 15 years old. |
