Abstract Activity and behaviour of the honeybee Apia mellifera L. depend upon many factors operating simultaneously and react to some environmental condi tions·in a similar manner YJherever they occur . It is extremely difficult to measure the effect of one factor apart from the others. The ecological factors prevailing in the location of an Apiary should be studied to know the optimum condition for honeybee activities. Weather is the most important factor affecting honeybee activities. A close relationship between weather factors and honeybee activities was recorded by many authors. They considered the temperature to be the moat important factor nffecting honeybee activities. Temperature, in general, affects djrectly tne consumption of foods, longevity of bees, flight and brood rearing. Therefore,it was important to study the effect of temperature on the activity of the honeybee colonies under the prevailing local environmental conditions of Kafr El-Sheikh region. The study included the effects on brood rearing, flight activity, nectar and pollen gathering, honeybee production and efficiency of honeybee colonies to thermoregulate the inside of the brood nest. |
