Abstract With the fast development of wireless networks and devices, Mobile Internet Protocol is expected to be used widely so that mobile users can access the Internet anywhere, anytime without interruption. However, some problems, such as handoff delay, firewall traversal and quality of service, restrict use of Mobile Internet Protocol. The objective of this thesis is to achieve minimum handoff delay even if the home network of the mobile node is protected by firewall or the type of packets that exchanged between the mobile node and the correspondent node is the real time packets. Three research topics are discussed. In each topic, the challenges are investigated and the new solutions are presented. In each research topic, the thesis introduces a program to compare the proposed solution with other protocols; the results showed that the proposed solutions achieve minimum handoff latency compared to other protocols. |
