Abstract

The study came out with the following results:Need for TLR after one year of follow up showed highly statistically significantly lower rate of need for TLR in SES group due to lower instent restenosis with SES group(0%) compared to control bare metal stent group(28%).
The lower rate of instent restenosis in the SES group was evidently related to incidence of positive scintigraphy. Stress-rest myocardial perfusion imaging showed significantly lower incidence of positive scans among the SES group, an important indicator for target vessel failure. 100% of patietns (14 patients)with positive scans had angiographically significant lesions.
In our study after one year follow up the cardiac death was insignificant between the two groups zero% in our study in both of them.
The incidence of QMI in our study after one year was 4% in BMS group compared to 0% in SES group while the incidence of NQMI at the end of one year was 12%(6 pts) in BMS group compared to 4 %(2 pts) in SES which is statistically insignificant both in QMI&NQMI .
As regading repeated hospitalization and symptom free duration after revascularization in our study we could not find significant difference between both groups with same incidence of of 20% in SES compared to 28% for BMS group which is insignificant statistically .
To summarize in our study of the one year clinical follow up of patients with DES showed significantly the advantage of lower rate of instent restenosis compared to control bare metal stent group. The lower in-stent restenosis rate in SES group was parallelled by corresponding lower rate need for TLR than in the bare metal stent group and both are statistically significant.Stress scintigraphy may be a reliable method for diagnosis of clinical restenosis.SES failed to prove statistically significant advantage over BMS group as regarding mortality,MI,repeat hospitalization and symptomatology but at least proved to be safe and non inferior to BMS in those points.
