Abstract Temperature is an important parameter as it affects the performance of electrical machines. Temperature variation affects the current, winding resistance, electromagnetic torque, speed, slip, and etc. Temperature rise is due to many reasons, among them are the load increase and braking the shaft. .If the temperature increases c • beyond a certain limit, the electrical insulator may be subjected to a breakdown. One of the most versatile electrical machines is the induction motor which is the most commonly used in industrial applications. So, the effect of temperature variation will be studied with regard to the induction motor. In this thesis, the effect of temperature variation on the performance of the induction motor will be studied. Specifically, tilia, eifect will be theotedcally studieci, in which a model for the iad, uction motor will be developed in MA TLAB with the corresponding equations mentioned. Furthermore, a thermal model will be developed for the induction motor. Simulation results show the effect of the temperature variation on the line voltage, current, speed, flux, and torque. One of the main advantages of the developed model is that it enables us to simulate the effect of temperature variation on both the stator and rotor windings. |
