Abstract The current study was carried out to identify the universal self care requisites and health deviation of patients with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy,their pattern of self care practice and their self care behaviour. This study included thirty patients admitted to medical unit and out patient to Assiut University Hospital, Egypt. Patient’s aged 18 years to 75 years suffering from side effect of chemotherapy. Full clinical assessment was done incluing age, sex, history of disease in the family, date of disease, number of receiving chemotherapy, record mthods of administerting chemotherapy and identify the patients suffering from side effect of chemotherapy and self management during this side effect. The chemotherapy drugs is an important way for the treatment of cancer patients and considered as an effective treatment on the actively dividing cell therfore the treatment by chemotherapy become effectively in cancer treatment. The major findings that could be drown from the study were as follows: 1- Females more than males. 2- Majority of the sample were single (60%). 3- More than half of the patients ilitrate (60%). 4- More than fifty percent of the patients working as house wives, skilled worker, student, carpenter and butcher. 5- There is significance difference between age of patients and sex. |
