Abstract

The years 2007–2008 witnessed dramatic increases in world food
prices, creating a global crisis and causing political and economical
instability and social unrest in both poor and developed nations (FAO,
2011).
In Egypt, people faced a big problem of the increasing prices of
food rich in protein; the rich is getting richer and the poor is getting
poorer, thus the rely on grains is essential in the poor places of Egypt.
Egyptians -especially the poor- are being squeezed by the waves of
price rises. Salaries have not increased, but prices have gone up three fold
and four fold. Some poor families say they have had to reduce their food
intake to two meals a day. They are eating meat even more infrequently
than usual-or not at all.
