Abstract

This work was designated to clear out the effect of water herbs extract of Turmeric (Curcuma longa, Linnaeus), family Zingiberaceae Ginger Family), chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and a member of the daisy family and lentisque (Pistacia lentiscus), Anacard-iaceaesumac family on healing aspirin ulcer in male albino rats. Sixty male albino rats 200±10g B.Wt. each) were used and disparted into 10 groups (n= 6 rats one of them used as control-ve while other groups had given aspirin orally 200mg/kg B.Wt.), one of these groups left as control +ve and other groups administrated with water herbs extract of Curcuma longa, chamomile,
lentisque and mixture of all herbs extract at doses of 500 and 250 mg/kg
B.Wt., for each of them for treatment for 7 days. The length of peptic ulcer,
volume of gastric juice, pH value, total acidity, total bacterial count and
histopathological changes were examined. The results of this study showed
that all the extracts reduced the length of peptic ulcers, gastric juice
volume, total acidity, total bacterial count and histopathological changes,
but increased the pH value of gastric juice. This study can be used for each
of the water herbs extract of chamomile, Curcuma longa and lentisque in
the treatment of peptic ulcers.
