Abstract

Generally, there are two approaches to calculate the profit: electronic approach, using the computer; and traditional or manual approach, by hand. The latter is prone to errors, time-consuming, and usually lacks accuracy; while the former is cleaner of errors, speedier, and more accurate, and hence is preferred and this research adopts using the electronic computer approach.
It is noted that the use of information technology has become popular in communities of different cultures, and also included in various industries, especially textile. The use of databases makes the process of information retrieval easier, by referring to these databases, to follow up one or more processes in the industry.
Business and private factories owners that work on this area (databases) and seek for quality of their products consider it easier to work alone. But, quality of exchanged information is better when information is compiled both across all processes of the plant, on one hand; and across the production process in the market, on the other hand. So, this is what our database usage supports in this research. Here, we consider various information related to all production stages, on one hand, while allow to compare between different mills along both of their overall costs, and their constituent costs, through producing summary and on-line reports.
Also, in this research, we decided to use one of the famous databases, which is called: ”Oracle”, and we apply it as an example on involving information technology into the textile engineering industry. This copes with the increasing trend towards using, globally, Oracle database in industry as a whole.
Using databases on electronic computers, we can calculate cost easily in a limited time and at high speed, needed to implement the spinning mill, and to produce yams of different specifications. This production depends on the desired end-use and available mills capabilities. Also, using electronic computers we can get reports concerning each yam count, which will control a lot of later decisions as: spin plan, raw material’s cost, production machines’ cost, maintenance cost, and usage types for human benefit.
In addition, the current research introduces some practical cases. But, in practice, results may vary from mill to mill, and from a product to another, depending on the quality required, and on the raw materials used and their costs.
This research can be adapted from a mill to another, with different machines used for manufacturing, required quality, labor power, and to be used with other new production processes in an easy and faster manner.
Research results can benefit in feasibility studies for different methods of operating the mill, before actual production starts, to know in-advance whether the mill will get a profit or will loose, under different user requirements to operate this mill in the textile field.
