Abstract

The term ”depression” can refer to a mood state or a set of symptoms that could happen to anyone. Adolescents’ depression is a disorder that occurs during the adolescence years and involves persistent sadness, discouragement and loss of self-worth. Depressed adolescents are particularly likely to have trouble asserting themselves because they feel that they are worthless and undeserving and such destructive feelings make assertiveness difficult. The study aimed to explore the relation between levels of depression and self-assertiveness in university students in Port-Said city. A total number of 866 students were selected randomly to give best representation of university students. The study was conducted in all faculties of Suez Canal University in Port-Said city. This study results proved that there is a negative correlation between levels of depression and self assertiveness among university students.
