Abstract

Leadership style is an important factor in leadership process for nurse managers leadership style is the manner in which they use interpersonal behavior to influence and accomplish goals of the unit a serious leadership and management problems result from ineffective use of time Time management is an asset of related common sense skills that helps managers to use their time in the most effective and productive way possible a descriptive study aiming to investigate the relationship between leadership styles and time management used by the head nurses This study was conducted at Ismalia university hospital elnassr and Elamery public hospital The sample composed of 50 head nurses data were collected through a structured interviewing questionnaire including different parts The first part was to collect personal data the second part aim to assess the leadership style of the study sample the third part intends to determine time management skills of the study subjects the results of the present study revealed that the majority of head nurses follow mixed leadership styles they are in need for training in time management skills and have no time wasters and they never delegate findings also revealed a negative correlation between leadership styles and the time management skills according to this results the researchers recommended that the new employed orientation program must be designed to cover leadership skills and time management skills educational and in service training programs must be provided to head nurses delegation must be initiated and asserted by the hospital policies and procedure and time management and leadership as a managerial skills must be included in the undergraduate and post graduate curricula.
