Abstract

human Resources Development is an important tool in improving health worker Performance. It also plays an important role in assessment of quality in primary health care. It covers all aspects of career development ,continuous training , payment reform and performance appraisal scheme. Motivation of health worker is a key factor in improving performance . Other factors include successful team work, accurate job description and supportive work environment .
Primary health care system requires effective human resource management for quality health system performance. How well providers deliver services to patients depends on the processes that define, deploy and organize the workforce , the workforce must be motivated, well- staffed and appropriately skilled to do their job well . The aim of this study was to help in improving performance of human . resources in Mansoura district mainly doctors and nurses . The objectives of this study were to measure the actual performance of doctors and nurses in PHC facilities , evaluate the motivating & de-motivating factors inside and outside work environment and finally to evaluate training courses given to doctors and nurses .
The study was carried out on 400 doctor & nurse from 30 PHC facility in
Mansoura district. Data were collected through a structured questionnaires consisting of 4 parts asking about self Assessment of performance , motivating & de-motivating factors and evaluation of training courses in addition to collection of some personal data . Responses of doctors & nurses were put on 3 point scale for performance and training courses evaluation .Total scores in addition to the mean were calculated for each performance indicator . Motivating & de-motivating factors were Scored from 1 to 5 by each participant and then arranged according to their importance as found by mean score.
