Abstract We used in this study the Biological Trochanteric Locked Plate A.H design (Contoured and Noncontoured) for treatment of (40)cases with comminuted subtrochanteric fractures. Thirty (30) of the patients were males and ten (10) were females with range of age from 26 to 64 years with a mean average 40.1. The most common cause was road traffic accident in 30 Patients (75%). Ten patients 25%) developed these fractures as a result of falling down.We reported the final results after 24 months after operation. The time of surgery was from 3 to 10 days after injury with mean interval 7.1 days. All fractures were comminuted type B (25%) and type C (75%) AO classification. They were all evaluated both clinically and radiologically. The clinical results were assessed according to Merle d’Aubigné functional ability score. Radiological evaluation included assessment of union, malunion, failure of fixation and implant failure. The Merle d’Aubigné system used in this work depends on three factors which are pain, mobility and walking. Each factor is rated from 0 to 6 and the total score represents the summation of points of the threefactors (18 points). |
