Abstract Thirty samples of each of Tilapia nilotica and Clarias lazera were used in this study. Samples of Tilapia nilotica included 10 fishes freshly caught (5 caught in July & August and 5 in september & October months) and 20 fish collected from rural areas of Giza 10 during Summer and 10 during Autumn). The same pattern was applied for Clarias lazera. Collected samples were examined bacteriologically for determination of the total erobic plate count , Enterobacteriaceae counts and Goliforms (MPN) and isolation and identification of micro±’lora existing in its muscles. The average counts of Aerobic plate,Enterobacteriaceae and Coliforms/g muscles were 4x104, 7x103 and 30 in Tilapia nilotica caught during July and August months. hile in Tilapia nilotica caught in Autumn (September and Oct’ober months) the average counts were 6x103, 10 and lO/g. Such counts increased to io10, lO9and 5x103/g in July and August and to 5xl05, 1O and 103/g during September and October months in samples collected from markets, at rural areas in Giza, respectively. |
