Abstract Most pharmaceutical compounds are subjected to some degradation with the subsequent partial or even complete loss of pharmacological activity or the conversion into harmful or toxic substances. A stability indicating procedures may be defined as a procedure that affords selective determination of a drug in presence of its degradation products.Multicomponent formulations have also gained lot of importance nowadays due to greater patient acceptability, increase potency, multiple action and quick relief thus simultaneous estimation of drugs in combination is an important part in the field of pharmacy as it avoids time of extraction, separation and gets accurate and precise results. In this work different analytical techniques were applied for the analysis of some pharmaceutical compounds of different pharmacological activities either in single or binary pharmaceutical formulations. The chosen drugs are namely, Nitazoxanide, Diloxanide furoate, Metronidazole, Triamterene and Xipamide. The aim of this work: ■ To investigate the stability of the studied drugs according to ICH guidelines by exposing them to different stress testing procedures. ■ To develop stability-indicating analytical methods which are able to determine those drugs in presence of their degradation products. ■ To test the applicability of the developed methods for the quantification and analysis of the cited drugs in raw materials, in their binary mixture and in their pharmaceutical formulations. |
