Abstract The present study aimed at developing a remedial instructional program i.e. a computer- assisted instruction one for kindergartners at- risk for learning disabilities, and examining the effectiveness of such a program on enhancing cognitive characteristics as reflected by cognitive developmental level in a sample of 14 KG- II , 5- 6 year- old- children divided into two equal groups i.e. experimental and control, with seven participants each. They were matched in age, intelligence, and socio- economic \ cultural status. Pretest results revealed that they were matched in cognitive developmental level, too. Experimental method was used, and instruments used were Stanfrd- Binet intelligence test, standardized play tools, socio- economic \ cultural status form, the quick neurological screening test, a test battery for preacademic skills, the cognitive development scale for children, the cognitive characteristics scale for kindergartners by the author, a computer- assisted instruction CAI program as a remedial instructional one by the author. The results revealed confirmed the effectiveness of the program used as a remedial instructional, and early intervention one on promoting and enhancing the cognitive characteristics level of those at- risk for LD kindergartners . |
