Abstract The present study was conducted on thirty livers of buffalo calves and five full term foetuses, the liver was situated on the right side of the intrathoracic part of the abdominal cavity, with two surfaces; parietal and visceral as well as four borders; dorsal, ventral, right and left. The liver was divided into four main lobes; right, left, caudate and quadrate. The peritoneal fixation includes two groups; visceral and parietal. The visceral group includes; lesser omentum and hepatorenal ligaments. While the parietal group includes; right triangular, left triangular, falciform, coronary and round ligaments. The portal vein was divided into R. dorsalis dexter, R. ventralis dexter and R. sinister. The hepatic artery bifurcated into R. dexter and R. sinister. The bile duct was formed by the union of right and left hepatic ducts, the cystic duct opened into the right hepatic duct the venous drainage by two large sized veins; left and middle and two medium sized ones; the right hepatic vein as well as 7-9 small sized veins . |
