Abstract This study demonstrated that buffalo may be a source of E.coli O157:H7 that cause human disease. Vero cell cytotoxicity, hemagglutination, enterotoxigenicity, adherence and invasion to Hepto cells, hemolytic activity, plasmid profile analysis, multiplex PCR assays for Shiga toxin 2 (Stx2) and intimin genes (eaeA) and SDS – PAGE of the outer membrane proteins are the most valuable characteristics had studied which could be suggested as virulence markers to E.coli O157: H7. Also antibiotic susceptibility tests of E.coli O157:H7 isolates to 15 antimicrobial agents to be of value as guide in the selection of antimicrobial agents to be employed for in vivo application. |
