Abstract

This study was planned as a trial to study the protective quality of BEl inactivated alhydragel R VF vaccine, BEl inactivated alhydragel Quil A and BEl inactivated alhydragel saponin R VF in sheep against R VF virus. Six groups of Balady breed sheep about 6 months of age (3 animals/group) were used in this study. The first group was vaccinated with 1 ml of inactivated alhydragel Quil A RVF vaccine (0.5 mg/ml) , the second group was vaccinated with 1 ml of alhydragel Quil A R VF vaccine with two doses with an interval of 30 days. The 3rd group was vaccinated with 1 ml SIC of alhydragel saponin R VF vaccine. The forth group was vaccinated with 1 ml of alhydragel saponin R VF vaccine with booster dose. The fifth group GS was vaccinated with 1 ml SIC BEl inactivated alhydragel. The six group G6 was kept as non-vaccinated control, T cell response as cellular immune response of sheep vaccinated with Quil A +
booster dose was significantly higher than those respond to saponin and alhydragel. Antibody response was estimated for 24 weeks post vaccination by using serum neutralization test (SNT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELlSA) techniques. The obtained results revealed that there were differences in cellular and humoral immune response among animals having booster dose and among groups vaccinated with Quil-A, saponin and alhydragel vaccinated group. Persistence of antibody level remained at protective level till the end of the experiment. The antibody response was higher with Quil A than saponin.
