Abstract Streptobacillus moniliformis is a highly pleomorphic Gram negative bacilli that is normally found in the respiratory tract of rodents and can be transmitted to man through bites of rats to cause what is called Rat bite fever , but many outbreaks causedby Smoniliformis reported for the first time in USA in Haverhill area (1926) where this organism was recovered from blood culture of several patients during the local outbreak of the disease outbreak resulted from ingestion of milk and milk products contaminated with rat excreta. |
