Abstract
Three experiments were conducted during the period from April 2007 till January 2008 in the experimental animal unit of quality control department of Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccine (VACSERA): The first experiment was Studying the normal behavioural activities of the laboratory guinea pig; The second experiment was to investigate the appropriate quarantine period after transportation of Guinea Pigs in relation to performance and physiology; The third experiment was to verify the effect of repeat handling (different weighing program) on the performance and physiology on laboratory guinea pig. It was found that some behavioural activities of laboratory guinea pig are affected by sex differences and day time. 5 davs post arrival is the minimal period for the laboratory guinea pig to be quarantined before it’s used. Either minimal or regular daily handling & weighing program for the laboratory guinea pig is preferable than the frequent interrupted regime.
