Abstract

Clinical examination of 172 cows and 128 buffaloes taken from
different localities of Suez Canal area showed that in cows, 12 cases of
pyometra, 102 cases of endometritis and 58 cases of cervicitis, while in
buffaloes 9 cases of pyometra, 65 cases of endometritis and 54 of
cervicitis.
Specimens were aseptically collected from genital tract of infected
animals (pyometra, endometritis and cervicitis) and were subjected for
aerobic and anaerobic bacterial isolation. Bacteriological examination
revealed that:
1) The isolated Gram positive facultative anaerobes from the cases of
pyometra were Staphylococcus aureus (16.66% and 11.11%),
Streptococcus pyogenes (16.66% and 22.22%) and Actinomyces
pyogenes( 33.33% and 33.33%) in cows and buffaloes respectively.
