Abstract Clinical examination of 172 cows and 128 buffaloes taken from different localities of Suez Canal area showed that in cows, 12 cases of pyometra, 102 cases of endometritis and 58 cases of cervicitis, while in buffaloes 9 cases of pyometra, 65 cases of endometritis and 54 of cervicitis. Specimens were aseptically collected from genital tract of infected animals (pyometra, endometritis and cervicitis) and were subjected for aerobic and anaerobic bacterial isolation. Bacteriological examination revealed that: 1) The isolated Gram positive facultative anaerobes from the cases of pyometra were Staphylococcus aureus (16.66% and 11.11%), Streptococcus pyogenes (16.66% and 22.22%) and Actinomyces pyogenes( 33.33% and 33.33%) in cows and buffaloes respectively. |
