Abstract
The present investigation aimed at exploring the immunological, haematological and electrocardiographic effects of CCl4 in adult male Sprague Dawely rats and the possible protective role of dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) against these effects if found.
The immunological and haematological studies were carried out by measuring mixed leukocytes number, lymphocytes number, serum immunoglobulin M, interleukin-4, interleukin-6, red blood cells number, haemoglobin value , haematocrit percentage, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular haemoglobin value, mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration and number of platelets following subchronic Po administration of CCL4 every other day for 30 and 60 days treatment periods.
The electrocardiographic study was carried out by measuring the heart rate and the QRS-complex amplitude following acute intraperitoneal injection of CCL4.
