Abstract

A total 200 swabs from the side surface of 100 camel and lamb carcasses (50 camel and 50 lamb) the collected swabs were examined bacteriologically . The results reverted that:
1. The mean count of total aerobic bacteria were 3.14 x I O± 2.4 x
Enterobacteriaceae were 9.7 x 102 ± 3.14 x 102, Enterococci were 7.16 x 102 ±2.11 x 102, staphylococci were 6.95 x 102 ± 2.11 x 102 and mould yeast were 7.83 x io ± 3.41 x 1051cm2 of camel carcasses surfaces, respectively.
2. The mean counts of. total aerobic bacteria, enterobacteriaceae. enterococci, stayhYlococci and mould and yeast were 9.17 x io ± 6.15 x ion, 6.64 x l0± 5.9 10 , 4.32 x io, 7.11 x 102 ± 2.79 x 102 and.9.43 x i05 /cm2 of examined lamb carcass surfaces respectively.
3. There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the mean value of total bacterial count, Enterobacteriaceae count, Enterococci count and mould and yeast count while no significant difference between the mean value of Staphylococci count/cm2 of examined camel and lamb carcass surfaces.
4. The incidence of Cainpylobacters in camel 8 % and 18 % in lamb.
The hygienic significance of surface contamination as well as the recommended measures to lower this contamination were discussed
The campylobacter species isolated from examined samples were
C jejuni and its incidence were 56.39%, C Coil and its incidence 31.57%,
C intestinalls and its incidence were 8.02% . Un typed strains and its incidence were
3.07%.
The incidence of some mould and yeast isolated from camel and lamb carcasses were; the incidence of Asprigullus flavus in camel were 18% while in lamb 28%.
The incidence of Asprigullus niger in camel 6% while in lamb 22% the incidence of pencillium spp in camel 16% while in lamb 20%.
The incidence of cladosporiurn spp in camel 4% hue in lamb 6% . The incidence of mucor in camel 10% while in lamb 18%.
The incidence of fusarium spp in camel and 40% while in lamb 18% . The incidence of candida spp in camel 18% while in lamb 24% . The incidence of Rodotorulla spp in camel 4% while in lamb 12%
