Abstract

1. INTRODUCTION
Brucellosis is an infectious and contagious disease caused’
by bacteria of the genus Brucella; it primarily affects cattle, sheep,
goats, swine and dogs, anti is characterized by abortion or
infertili y. I is also considered CIne of the most i portant ba terial
anthropozoonotic diseases that affects uman and is

Brucellosis remains a . erious zoonosis of bod public healtl

Brucello is i caused by members of the genus Brucella
which includes Brucella abortlls Brucello: melitensis, Brucella suis
and Brucella cQnis. Brucella melitensis is considered the most
virulent and pathogenic strain among different Brucella species
for both animals and man (Elberg, 1986). It can be transmitted
from infected animals to man either directly or indirectly, direct
