Abstract
Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis. Donné was the first who discovered and named Trichomonas vaginalis after finding the organism in genital secretions of both women and men. Trichomonas vaginalis is monoxen parasite and its definitive host is the human .The infection is the most prevalent non viral STD. Sexual intercourse is believed to be the usual means of transfer.The infection may be asymptomatic or may cause various symptoms, including a frothy yellow-green vaginal discharge and vulvar irritation. Trichomonas vaginalis is associated with other sexually transmitted diseases including human immunodifficiency virus. Accurate diagnosis is necessary for specific treatment that facilitates control of the T. vaginalis infection and prevents complications. The objective of the present study was to evaluate a new diagnostic techniques such as PCR for diagnosing Trichomonas vaginalis compared the best conventional techniques.
