Abstract
SUMMARY
The present investigation was carried out in Dakhla Bis (New Valley) during the period from 1984 to 1986 to idy some ecological aspects of certain heteropteran sts inhabiting alfalfa and wheat and the associated tural enemies. In addition, laboratory studies were aducted to elucidate the effect of constant temperatures the development of PhftocotJ4 sp. Results obtained uld be summarized as follows:
Ecological studies
1 . . Survey
Heteroptera was represneted by 25 species belonging 22 genera and 9 families. Among the collected heterop— ran complex 16 species were phytophagous and 9 species re entomophagous.
2. Status of the populationaof hemipteran-heteropteran species and their associated predators:
2.1. Pests
On alfalfa and wheat the dominant mind species were Ln1pyomma ZmpLcta and ?hytocoftL4 sp. The dominant heter— )teran pests other than minds collected from alfalfa and ieat were Ey4aco&L4 LYLCOYL4pLcucL4 and Nezo’ u-Lk-Ldut.
Generally heteropteran species were collected in high wnbers during April and May.
