Abstract This study was canied out at the Poultnj Farm, Department of al Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University during the nod from Dcc. 1993 to Dec. 1994. Ii was planned to study the effect of ice molting on the performance of Dandarawi hens. h t I I dedthre ex riment : e first was planned to study the effect of molting methods on the erformance of Dandarawi hens. e second was aimed to study the effect of age of molting hens. e third was planned to study the effect of the number of molts per ason. In the first experiment, five groups (each of 45 hens and 5 cocks at 60 weeks of age) were used to compare four methods of force molting (feed restriction, light restriction, high dietary zinc level and progesterone injection). The fifth group was used a control. In the second experiment, four groups (each of 45 hens and 5 cocks) were used, the first was kept as control, while the second, third and fourth were interamuscularly injected by one dose of 50 mg progesterone per hen (25 rug into each pectoral muscule) at 47, 60 and 73 weeks of age, respectively. In the third experiment, three groups (each of 45 hens and 5 cocks) were used, the first was kept as control, while the second was interamuscularly thjected by 2 doses of 50 mg progesterone per hen at 47 and 73 weeks of age. The third group was interamuscularly injected by one dose of 50 mg progesterone per hen at 73 weeks of age only. |
