SUtvll.ARYThis study aims to shed light on the effect of present land rent policy on productivity of agricultural lend in Beni—Suef G.vernerate n one hand, and to find bases that could help the government to establish sound relaianship between land owilere and tenants, an the ether hand. The study also tries t. find the differerces between legal or official rent established by the government as seven times of land tax rate end the actual rent of land, end h.w equilibrium could be reached between both
•fficial and actual rent of agricultural land.
Therefore the study set the following assumptions t. be tested:
1— The present land rent policy that organizes relationship between land owners and tenants is the right one.
2— There is n significant difference between net income per feddan in both rented and •wned farms.
3- Both rented and owned farms in the sample utilize agricul— turl reeGurces with the same rate of efficiency.
4— There is no significant difference between legal or •fficial land rent and actual land rent estimated as a value of marginal product of land.
Data needed for the study have been collected through multi— ntages stratified sample. The size of the sample was 503 farms covering all counties •f Beni—Suef Governorate acc,rdin t. land rate, of which 244 farms are owned farms and 259 are rented farms.
