Abstract This study was carried out on 95 nurses working in the internal medicine, surgery. orthopedic surgery, and intensive care departments of genera! hospitals. The aim of this study was to assess nurses’ knowledge and practice about measures to prevent deep venous thrombosis (DVT). The data were collected using two tools; ”structured questionnaire sheet” which is consisted of 41 questions related to socio-demographic characteristics. • DVT disease and the care of patient with DVT. ”observation checklist” were related to active and passive range of motion exercises, deep breathing exercise and early ambulation. The results of this study indicated that nurses working in the above mentioned departments had unsatisfactory level of knowledge and practice about measures to prevent DVT. Moreover, it was also found that no statistically significant relation between nurses’ knowledge and practice about measures to prevent DVT. Finally, no statistically significant relation between nurses’ knowledge, practice and their socio4emographic characteristics were detected. |
