Abstract
Around the world, traditional masonry buildings still present an important part of the existing building stock in many regions, so does Egypt. The Egyptian census authority points out that made than 85% of the buildings in rural areas and old towns are made of load bearing masonry walls. Masonry structures are usually designed and constructed to sustain uniform load from self weight, weight of slab above, and superimposed live loads. Masonry structures may also be subjected to concentrated loads, which might be the reaction of any cross beams dividing the slab above .However, such structures may also be subjected to the lateral loads coming from wind of seismic loads
