Abstract The technique of phacoemulsification as developed by Kelman was designed to perform extracapsular cataract extraction through a small incision. Various techniques can be used in performing ultrasonic emulsification of the nucleus. In this thesis we discuss intraoperative capsular complications of phacoemulsification surgery thoroughly and explain the methods of avoidance and proper management of these complications. Capsular complications can occur during the different stages of phacoemulsification starting from rhexis and through out Hydrodissection, emulsification of the nucleus, I/A of residual cortical matter and IOL implantation. |
