Abstract

The tested parameters were number of stalks / m2, stalks length (cm), cane and sugar yield. These parameters were increased with the increase of nematode concentration. High concentration (4 x105 IJs / liter) was superior than other tested concentration and this concentration differed significantly than the untreated check. Results in 2007/2008 season were in similar trend with those obtained in 2006/2007.
Generally, it could be concluded that all tested plant oils (Jasmine, Soya bean and Clove ) and Onion juice increased the values of yield components (such as no. of stalks/m2, stalks length (cm), cane yield (ton/fed.), weight of juice stalks(kg), Sucrose %, Purity %, Sugar recovery percentage and Sugar yield (ton/fed.)) of Sugarcane infested with Sugarcane borers (S. cretica and C. agamemnon) during the two seasons (2006/2007 & 2007/2008). In addition the higher values of these yield components were obtained by increasing the conc. of these plant oils from 0.05 to 0.2%. But, the stalks diameter (cm) and brix percentage were decreased by increasing the conc. of these plant oils. Meanwhile, the grand means of cane and sugar yields in sugarcane crop infested with S. cretica and C. agamemnon were increased after spraying with the tested plant oils (Jasmine, Soya bean and Clove) and Onion juice at all the tested conc. (0.05, 0.1, 0.15 and 0.2%) as compared with the control. Moreover, the higher conc. (0.2%) of all tested plant oils and Onion juice, the higher grand means of cane and sugar yields recorded 59.7, 63.7, 55.6, 57.9 and 6.7, 7.3, 6.1, 6.4 during the first season (2006/2007), 59.3, 62.5, 52.0, 56.5 and 6.8, 7.5, 5.8, 6.4 in the second one season (2007/2008) for Jasmine, Soya bean, Clove oils and Onion juice extract, respectively. As well as, it was noticed that the highest plant oil activity was Soya bean oil followed by all tested oils, which gave the highest grand means of cane and sugar yield at different conc. as compared with the control during the two seasons (2006/2007&2007/2008).
