Abstract

The aim of the present study was to evalute the correlation between apoptosis and Bcl2 assotiated x protien (Bax) with clinicopathological parameters in patients with gasrtic adenocarcinoma versus patients with gastritis and dyspeptic patients with normal gastric mucosa, for that immunohistochemical assessement of Bax protien expression was done for all endoscopically taken gastric mucosal biopsies in the studied groups and its relation to clinical status and pathomorphologigal parameters were carried out.A total number of 70 patients were selected from 105 patients attending to Endoscopy Unit Of Tropical Medicine Department,Menoufiya University in the period between November, 2006 to Febraury, 2009. They were 41(58.6%) males and 29 (41.4%) females.Patients were grouped as follows-Group I: Comprised 40 patients with gastric adenocarcinoma.Group II: Comprised 20 patients with gastritis.Group III: Comprised 10 dyspeptic patients ,underwent upper GIT.endoscopy and revealed normal mucosa as the control group. All groups were subjected to the following-1-Detailed history taking.2-Complete physical examination 3-Investigations Complete blood picture (CBC) , Erythrocyte sedimentation rateESR),Random blood suger,ALT, AST, Bilirubin (total, direct) ,INR,Blood urea , serum creatinine, Pelvi-abdominal ultrasonography and/or computed tomography (CT) scanning when indicated, Upper GIT endoscopy& Biopsy taking and Immunohistochemical examination&Bax evaluation.
