Abstract

One hundred and twenty pregnant women with singleton pregnancy, vertex presentation and positive signs of life, their gestational age from 34- 40 weeks gestation, they were classified into control group include 40 women and the study group which subdivided into severe oligohydramnious group include 60 women and borderline oligohydramnious group include 20 women. All women were examined clinically and submitted for ultrasongraphic measurement of amniotic fluid index and Doppler examination of umbilical and middle cerebral arteries as well as assessment of perinatal outcome.
Results of this study revealed the following: highly significant difference of AFI between different study groups(p- value= 0.000), and highly significant difference of MBP in different study groups(p- value= 0.000), and significant difference of EFW in different study groups(p- value= 0.039).
The outcome scoring system depends on the all varieties of the outcome which include( mode of delivery, Apgar score after 1 min, Apgar score after 5 min, need to admission to neonatal intensive care unit), and from this scoring system the results was: from the eighty women with rupture of membrane, twenty five women had unfavorable outcome and fifty five women had favorable outcome.
The results of the outcome was thirty eight women delivered by cesarean section (31.7%), twenty women of them were delivered cesarean section due to fetal distress with frequency 16.3% and eighteen of them delivered by cesarean section with a frequency 14.2% due to other causes like previous cesarean section and big size of the fetus, and eighty two women were delivered by normal vaginal delivery with frequency of 68.3%, fifteen of them delivered by successful induction of labor with Frequency 12.5 % and sixty seven of them delivered by spontaneous vaginal delivery with a frequency of 58.3% . Apgar score after 1 minute was < 7 in forty six women with frequency of 38.3% and 7 in seventy four women with frequency of 61.7%.
Apgar score after 5 minutes was< 7 in twelve women with frequency of 10% and 7 in one hundred and eighty women with frequency of 90%. Twelve newborns delivered need to admission to the neonatal intensive care unit with frequency of 10%. One hundred and eighty newborns delivered were in good health and need no admission to neonatal intensive care unit with frequency of 90%. There were no fetal death.
